A Note to My Community,
After much thought, I've made the difficult decision to step away from ownership of the Phoenix studio I called Community Yoga.
The decision was not made lightly. Like many small businesses, Community Yoga has been affected by the changing commercial real estate market, with the new landlords requesting a significant rent increase and a five-year lease rather than three. After careful consideration, including new family circumstances in NY that need my support, I decided not to renew the lease and to begin planning my move back east in the first half of 2027.
This studio has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Together, we've created far more than a place to practice yoga—we've built a community rooted in kindness, curiosity, laughter, healing, and genuine connection. Community Yoga became a meaningful continuation of the foundation many of us had at Desert Song. It has been a privilege and a true gift for my heart to be in this practice together with all of you, and to have earned your trust.
From Community to Centered… A Transition Timeline
The ideal person has emerged to take over the space and rename it Centered. Jane Mayer will be keeping a very similar business model, with instructors and facilitators renting the studio for their classes and special events.
This means I can continue to teach my classes at Centered until I move!
Jane has a long and deep foundation in yoga, both as a teacher of more than 25 years and as a studio owner. Her warmth, ethics, clarity and vision are exactly the qualities needed to lovingly carry this space into its next iteration. I am excited to support her and Centered, and that myself and the other instructors like Ellen and Angie still have this beautiful space where we can hold our classes.
My Classes, Present and Future…
•Nothing changes in my class schedule, or how you register for my classes.
•I’ll continue to offer my 7 weekly classes, from Gentle to Intermediate levels.
•Class drop in price is now $20.
•I’ll also be leading special events, such as Soul Salve Sundays on October 4 and November 1st.
While the studio itself will be changing, my relationship with this community doesn't end. I want to stay as connected as possible before and after I move. Keep coming to classes - I have so much enthusiasm and respect for the Yoga teachings, and I’m honored to share them with you!
After my move to NY, I will offer virtual and livestreaming options; I’ll keep myself available and accessible to anyone who wants to continue to study with me from afar.
With love and gratitude,
Evon Hart
